ONE YEAR.
FOR A LIFETIME
OF GROWTH.

Nine months to grow in character, calling, and community

What is the Gap Year at Lodestar?

The Gap Year at Lodestar is a 9 month Christian Gap Year program set in the stunning, rugged beauty of Smoke Hole Canyon, West Virginia, at the Lodestar Mountain Inn that emphasizes hands-on learning, gospel-centered discipleship, and intentional community.

We exist to equip young adults for a life of growth in character, calling, and community so they may know Christ and make Him known.

Our Outcomes

Christlike Character

True character is forged in the quiet places— through spiritual discipline, testing, and a heart that desires to become like Christ. This year is designed to shape you through Scripture, community, prayer, service, and the Spirit’s work in your life.

Real Community

Life is not meant to be lived alone. At Lodestar, we’re committed to creating a community where you can be known and loved. Here, we practice forgiveness, speak truth in love, and serve one another with humility. Our life together is both a gift and a responsibility.

True Calling

We believe that God has created you for a purpose—and that discovering that purpose begins with knowing Him. Through reflection, mentorship, and spiritual formation, you’ll have space to explore how your gifts, passions, and personality can be used for God’s glory and the good of others.

The Experience

Through spiritual formation, outdoor adventure, hands-on service, and domestic and international travel, the Gap Year at Lodestar provides a transformative season rooted in the truth of Scripture and the power of the Gospel all while earning 27 college credits through Lancaster Bible College.
